All staff of Lifetime Learners are required to comply with State & Territory statutory child protection requirements and to notify Lifetime Learners of any change in their circumstances relevant to child protection legislation. All current & prospective staff and contractors should familiarize themselves with the contents of this page.
Student Protection
The tabs below contain information about Lifetime Learners' requirements of all current & prospective staff as well as information about statutory requirements in your State or Territory in respect of student protection. While every effort is made to maintain the currency of this information, you are advised to consult the appropriate Government body in your State or Territory. Legislation across Australia requires persons working with children and minors under 18 years of age, either in paid employment or as volunteers, to undergo compulsory background and criminal history checks. The purpose of these checks is to help protect young people under the age of 18 from sexual or physical harm.
In general terms, because of the nature of our business, Lifetime Learners is prohibited from engaging or employing tutors or other staff who have been rejected by the screening process required under working with children legislation.In addition, it is generally considered an offence for a prohibited person to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child related employment.
Specific Legislative requirements may vary between States. Prospective and current employees, contractors or consultants of Lifetime Learners should ensure that they are aware of and comply with child protection legislation in their State.
The following are conditions of employment or engagement with Lifetime Learners that apply to all current and prospective employees, contractors and consultants:
- Employees, consultants and contractors must consent to and undergo at their own expense working with children and background checks as and when required by legislation in their State of residence/employment/engagement;
- Employees, consultants and contractors must provide Lifetime Learners as and when requested with evidence of their suitability or continued suitability to work with children in the form prescribed by relevant State legislation;
- Employees, consultants and contractors must notify Lifetime Learners immediately of any circumstance that might cause any change in their suitability or continued suitability to work with children under relevant State legislation.
In States or Territories where no relevant legislation exists, employees, consultants and contractors must consent to and undergo at their own expense background and criminal history checks with their State or Territory Police, to provide Lifetime Learners as and when requested with a copy of the outcome of these checks and undertake to notify Lifetime Learners immediately of any circumstance that might cause any change in their criminal history.
